Rio de Janeiro is one the most perfect places in the world to take a city break. I know, I know, I live in the UK and that sounds like madness. But what I mean is, it is one of a few cities in the world that has it all of my favourite things.

Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival is an extravaganza of Brazilian colour, music, dance, costume and self expression. The city moves to a samba rhythm. Parties scatter the city for days in the lead up to the main event, The Sambadrome!

The Santa Teresa Tram, the Bonde, has been running in Rio De Janeiro for over a century. Now it is working again, after the accident, we share our trip on it.
